Russia has launched another series of large-scale strikes against Ukraine and is targeting what Moscow says are the main military supply routes and an air base used by Ukrainian forces.
Videos circulating online show explosions and thick plumes of smoke rising from the targeted locations, although the authenticity of each one has not been independently verified.
Russia said the strikes aimed at disrupting Ukraine’s logistics system and reducing its ability to transport military equipment and personnel to frontline locations.
The Russian military said precision-guided missiles and drones were employed in the operation and they saw it as part of its ongoing campaign against Ukrainian military infrastructure.
The aircraft base, which Russia argued was used to support Ukrainian air operations, was greatly damaged, it said. Ammunition storage facilities, maintenance hangars, and military vehicles at the site were also destroyed.
Ukrainian authorities admit to attacks in some areas but do not provide any evidence of the extent of the damage claimed by Russia.
These strikes come amid a war that continues on multiple fronts and both sides are increasingly using drones and missile systems.
