The clash between two rival mobile shop groups led to chaos in Bangalore’s busy Rajkumar Road late Thursday night as police rushed to arrest 17 people for violence. The clash turned into a mass brawl between two rival mobile shop groups that disrupted traffic, scared off people, and frightened those who looked on at the scene, Magadi Road Police said.
According to police, the violence took place at 9:40 PM on July 23, 2026, at Colours Mobile (a local business), where two groups were in a heated argument that turned violent. The fight took place in public view, and the people involved were physically and verbally assaulting each other, the police said.

The incident was revealed when an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) on routine patrol saw almost 20 people in the crowd in the disturbance. The officer immediately raised the alarm and sent more police to the scene, so that the situation was contained before it could escalate.
Police identified Siddaraju R. (40), owner of Colours Mobile, and Deepak (30), owner of Star Mobile, as the main instigators of the clash. The dispute began as a small issue but turned into a street fight between the two sides, the investigators said.
The aggressive actions of the opposing groups temporarily blocked traffic on Rajkumar Road, one of the city’s main arteries, creating congestion and inconveniencing travelers. People were worried that the violence could destroy local shops and property on the street, and the crowd of people that turned out to be witnesses was scared as the scene went on.
After the incident, the Magadi Road Police filed a suo motu case without waiting for a formal complaint from either side. The police named 17 suspects in the FIR and also mentioned several unknown persons who allegedly participated in the clash.
All the accused were booked under Section 194(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, on affray. The provision applies when two or more persons engage in fighting in a public place in a way that disturbs public peace.
Police had said they are working to find out who the remaining people involved in the incident are. CCTV footage from nearby places and witness reports are also being collected to establish the sequence of events and how each individual was involved, they said.
So the incident reminds us that when we let personal conflicts or business disputes spill onto our town’s streets, law enforcement is in charge and will handle that.
Bengaluru police asked the public and business owners to resolve disputes through legal and peaceful means rather than resorting to violence. If people are found violating public order or endangering the safety of others, police told reporters they will be in trouble, they said.
The investigation is ongoing, and police will question more witnesses and look for further evidence before filing the final charge sheet, they said.
