A 17-year-old student from Bulandshahr has developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI) teacher robot, named 'Sophie,' which is now being used to assist with education at his own college.
Aditya Kumar, a student at Shiv Charan Inter College, is the young mind behind this pioneering educational technology. He successfully engineered the robot, which is equipped with an LLM (Large Language Model) chipset—technology typically utilized by major robotics firms.
Meet Sophie, the AI Educator
The AI teacher robot, Sophie, has been brought to the college and has already impressed both students and faculty with its capabilities. In a video demonstration, the robot introduced itself, showcasing its vocal ability and function.
In Hindi, Sophie stated: "I am an AI teacher robot. My name is Sophie, and I was invented by Aditya. I teach at Shivcharan Inter-college, Bulandshahr." The confident self-introduction has drawn widespread amazement.
Sophie is designed to handle basic academic concepts and clear up students' doubts. During a demonstration, the robot accurately answered questions on general knowledge, solved arithmetic problems, and provided definitions, demonstrating its potential as a valuable teaching assistant.
A Vision for Accessible Technology
Aditya Kumar revealed that he utilized an LLM chipset, the same kind of advanced technology used by large companies, to build Sophie. He noted that while the robot currently communicates solely through speech, he is actively working on developing its capabilities further.
The young inventor has ambitious plans to modify the robot to enable it to write as well. He also emphasized the critical need for better infrastructure to support innovation, stating, "There should be a lab in every district so students can come there and do research."
Aditya’s invention highlights the growing potential of low-cost AI solutions to bridge educational gaps and enhance classroom learning in smaller cities and rural areas across India.
