The township of Baramati has gathered at the final rites of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and is teeming with supporters. Today, the senior NCP leader, who along with four others died in a Learjet 45 crash on Wednesday, will be cremated with full state honors.
Final Journey Schedule (Antim Yatra)
The local government has scheduled it so that the people have time to pay and the Pawar family members have time to collect their final respects:
- 09:00 AM: The Antim Yatra (funeral procession) would start from Vidya Pratishthan Campus – (Gadima). The flower-laden chariot reading "Late Ajitdada Pawar Lives Forever" will cover their bodies and the victims will be seen.
- 09:00 AM - 10:30 AM: The procession will pass through the main streets of Baramati, providing the thousands of party workers and residents that have gone to other parts of the state to see their Leader before they will disperse.
- 11:00 AM: Vidya Pratishthan Sports Ground will provide for the final rites.
VVIP Attendance and Visibility Ajit Pawar sat a significant part of state and national politics so a limelightous delegation had entered the state, a delegation would have come to Baramati;
NATIONAL LEADERSHIP
India Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah special flight from to Baramati for their last intercession. India’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, along with all the other Ministers in the Indian State to present.
- Security Cordon: Approximately 5,000 police officers, more from Solapur and Satara and other districts will be deployed in order to control the crowd and protect VVIPs.
- Widening Mourning: The 2nd day of state mourning The National Flag is at half-mast at all government buildings across Maharashtra. In Baramati, businesses decided to keep their doors closed as a way of honoring the man who won the support of the constituency and had ruled it for more than three decades.
The crash that killed five people, 200 metres from the Baramati runway, is being investigated by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). But this is where some technical questions persist as the discourse today is centered on the legacy of a man who was “the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the longest period in its history.”
