A poster war erupted in Raebareli on September 24, 2026 before Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s PDA Rath Yatra in the district of Uttar Pradesh. Posters targeting the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister appeared along the Lucknow-Raebareli road, raising questions about road construction and Yadav’s response to the death of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh.
The political tension comes just as we are approaching the 2027 Assembly election of Uttar Pradesh.
Posters Question Akhilesh Yadav
Some posters have been put up along the Lucknow-Raebareli route targeting Akhilesh Yadav.
One poster asked when Yadav would pay tribute to Kalyan Singh, who died in 2021. Another questioned the use of a reported ₹20-crore vanity vehicle, asking who constructed the road on which it was travelling.
Other posters allegedly used the term “Girgitesh” to target Yadav.
The posters appeared just before Yadav's scheduled visit to Raebareli for the launch of the PDA Rath Yatra.
Poster War Before PDA Rath Yatra
The development comes at a politically significant time in Uttar Pradesh.
Akhilesh Yadav is going to start the PDA Rath Yatra from Raebareli on Thursday. The PDA is based on Pichhda, Dalit and Alpsankhyak communities.
The visit also includes a public meeting on the GIC ground and meetings with local party leaders and workers.
Opposition posters have added another layer to the political atmosphere surrounding the visit. Reports said several posters critical of Yadav were seen in different parts of the area.

SP Supporters Put Up Their Own Posters
While the opposition posters questioned Yadav, Samajwadi Party supporters also posted posters praising their leader.
One banner featured Akhilesh Yadav’s picture as Lord Krishna and the message inviting him to Raebareli. The banner said he is a “PDA Mahanayak” and was put up by an office-bearer of the Yuvjan Sabha.
This resulted in contrasting political messages spreading across the city ahead of the Rath Yatra.
Did SP Workers Remove the Posters?
Some social media posts claimed that Samajwadi Party workers removed posters targeting Akhilesh Yadav.
However, the major reports available on September 24 confirm that the posters were displayed and that they triggered a political controversy, but they do not clearly establish that SP workers removed the specific posters about Kalyan Singh and the road.
Thus, that part of the claim should be attributed carefully until police, local administration or a reliable on-ground report confirms.
Why Kalyan Singh's Name Appeared?
Kalyan Singh, a former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and a prominent BJP leader, died in August 2021. His political legacy continues to be cited in Uttar Pradesh's political debates.
The latest posters used his name to question the position and actions of Akhilesh Yadav, and they were seen as a part of the larger messaging ahead of the 2027 election.
