Tata Motors is expected to launch the new compact sedan Tata Aeris in India on 25 September 2026. The Tata Aeris will be the successor to the popular Tata Tigor and the forthcoming sedan will have a new exterior, a new interior and many new features. The Aeris is expected to be redesigned and the petrol and CNG powertrain will be used again but Tata Motors will also keep the petrol and CNG powertrain in the outgoing model.
The Tata Aeris has been shown in several teasers so that the buyers at least have an idea of how it looks like in the front and interior. This sedan will be in the sub-4-metre segment and will be in competition with Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze. Before the launch, here is a summary of the expected price, design and features of the Tata Aeris.
Tata Aeris Expected Price In India
Tata Aeris is expected to be priced a bit higher than the outgoing Tigor. It could be due to its new appearance, additional equipment and upgraded cabin. The compact sedan will be priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9 lakh depending on the variant and powertrain in question.
The final prices will be announced by Tata Motors at the launch. The Aeris is expected to enter in the extremely competitive compact sedan market, and customers have Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Honda to choose from.
Tata Aeris Design And Exterior Changes
The upcoming Tata Aeris will have a sharper and more modern exterior than the Tigor. While the basic sedan silhouette will likely be the same, Tata Motors seems to have made some improvements in front and rear sections of the car.
The front end design is expected to feature sleek LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights. LED fog lamps and redesigned bumper elements could further differentiate the Aeris from the outgoing Tigor. The sedan is also expected to get a new set of alloy wheels with a different design.
There have been some teaser images of the alloy wheels that show blacked-out styling to give a sportier look to the sedan. Tata Motors is also expected to bring in new colour options for the Aeris, adding to its visual appeal.
Tata Aeris Interior And Features
The biggest changes could be inside the cabin. The latest teasers reveal that the Tata Aeris will have a dashboard layout inspired by the new Tata Tiago. A major highlight will be a 10.24-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The sedan is also expected to have a new two-spoke steering wheel and fully digital instrument cluster. This could give the Aeris a more modern cabin than the Tigor.
Other expected features include a wireless charging tray, cruise control, automatic climate control and a 360-degree camera. The car could also get rear AC vents, Type-C USB ports and electrically adjustable and folding outside rear-view mirrors.
The centre console will also have cup holders and an armrest with additional storage space. The interior could also be painted in a beige and grey colour scheme, so that the interior will be much more premium.
Tata Aeris Engine And Gearbox
Despite all the upgrades and improvements, the Tata Aeris will still have the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that has been used for the Tigor. In petrol, it provides around 85hp and 113 Nm peak torque.
The petrol engine is expected to continue with both a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT option. This would enable Tata Motors to offer a conventional manual transmission and an automatic option in the compact sedan segment.
A CNG-powered version of the Tata Aeris is also expected to be launched. Details of the CNG powertrain, including mileage and variant choices, will be revealed during the launch.
Tata Aeris Rivals In India
When launched, the Tata Aeris will be competing against vehicles such as Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze in India’s sub-4-metre sedan sector. A compact car with a separate boot, practical dimensions and relatively cheap running costs is still in demand for buyers.
With an updated design, upgraded technology and petrol and CNG powertrain options to choose from, the Aeris will be a significant upgrade to the Tigor. Tata Motors will reveal the full variant line-up, price, specifications and availability at an official launch on September 25.
