On April 1, after school, the girl was allegedly tricked into an auto by driver Saleem when she was going home from Abids. He took her to an isolated place in Golconda and acted inappropriately, the police said.

At the same time, Mohammed Firoz was coming out of a mosque nearby. He saw the girl crying inside the auto and immediately became suspicious. He stopped the auto and asked the child what had happened. The frightened girl told him the driver was behaving badly with her.

As soon as the accused realized the situation he left the girl and ran away.

Firoz checked the girl’s ID card, found her father’s phone number, and informed the family. Around the same time, the girl’s parents were already looking for her in panic near the school.

Abids PS Blue Coats constables Saikrishna and Kedar Singh learned of the incident, rushed to Golconda, and safely brought the girl back to her parents.

Police arrested Saleem on April 2, seized the car, and put him in remand. Such swift action ensured that the accused would face legal consequences for his crime.

On Monday, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanar awarded Mohammed Firoz a shawl, an appreciation certificate, and a cash reward for his quick action. Constables Saikrishna and Kedar Singh also received praise for saving the child safely and were praised for their timely action.

This is a reminder that not every hero wears a uniform. Sometimes it’s just an ordinary person who refuses to look away when something seems wrong. Firoz’s bravery and the quick response of the police made all the difference in saving a child from harm.

It is clear from the Golconda case that one alert citizen and police officers worked in concert to save a child. Their actions prevented a tragedy and reinforced the importance of community vigilance. One man’s choice to stop and ask questions saved a young girl’s life.
