The doctor slit her throat while she was going to school after returning home for lunch, residents say.

The woman, known as Aruna, is the wife of railway worker Krishna Reddy. She lives in Railway Quarters and works as a teacher at Chaitanya English Medium School in Rajendra Nagar.

In the past couple of years, Aruna got treatment from a homeopathy doctor named Srinivas. During the course of her treatment, they got to know each other. But their relationship deteriorated recently in the heat of a fight on money.

Aruna had earlier approached the police with a complaint that Srinivas had acted inappropriately with her. The complaint added to tensions between the two.

On Thursday afternoon, Srinivas allegedly attacked Aruna while she was on her way to school after returning home for lunch. He slit her throat during the attack, wounding her.

Aruna was immediately taken to the Guntakal Government Hospital for treatment. Her condition was reported to be stable after the incident.

Police took Srinivas into custody. Two Town Circle Inspector Vamshi Krishna handled the accused’s detention, and a case has been registered in connection with the alleged attack.

Police believe Srinivas may have had a grudge against Aruna for the complaint she had made. The circumstances of the incident are still under investigation as to what went wrong in relation to the financial dispute and the time frame of the attack.

The case has raised concern in Guntakal because of the alleged assault and the earlier complaint made by the teacher.

Police will collect more evidence and record statements as the investigation continues, the chief commissioner said.

And because the investigation is ongoing, the accused is currently in custody. Details about the motive and circumstances of the attack are likely to emerge as the investigation continues.

The news was reported by Deccan Chronicle, which reported the alleged attack, the earlier complaint, the police action and the investigation.

The incident has once again highlighted the need for prompt action in cases involving violence against women.
