The state Transport Minister inaugurated the facility in what is the first step in the development of electric bus infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh.

The new power room opened in Simhapuri will be the backbone of the e-bus depot in terms of electricity supply for charging electric buses. In this regard, the depot will play a crucial role in supporting electric buses in the state at the same time reducing diesel-powered vehicles dependency.

The Transport Minister at the inauguration stressed the government’s commitment to modernizing public transport with the use of electric mobility. Expanded EV infrastructure is essential as it is going to reduce carbon emissions, reduce fuel costs and make travel more convenient and comfortable for all, he said.

The Simhapuri e-bus depot has advanced charging facilities to efficiently charge multiple electric buses. The new power room will enable a constant supply for electric buses so that charging cycles can be faster and buses will not be shut down.

Electric buses are part of India’s strategy to reduce urban pollution and to achieve sustainable development goals. Andhra Pradesh has been steadily growing its fleet of electric buses under various government initiatives aimed at promoting environmentally friendly transportation.

Increasing electric vehicle charging stations, power infrastructure and depot upgrades will help to drive wider adoption of electric vehicles in the state.

The Simhapuri depot will be able to provide daily bus services in the region and passengers will experience quieter, cleaner and more reliable services. Electric buses also save maintenance costs when compared to diesel buses and therefore are inexpensive for public transport authorities for decades to come.

Infrastructure development is just as important as electric buses, officials said at the inauguration. Charging facilities for electric buses need to be good enough, power supplies are sufficient and depots are well-equipped to ensure uninterrupted operations and to take advantage of electric mobility.

So the Andhra Pradesh government has been actively involved in a bid to ensure that the nation can achieve the Centre's vision of electric vehicles and greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Projects like Simhapuri e-bus depot show that the state is really interested in modern technology and a better public transport system for people.

Investment in EV infrastructure will improve urban mobility and clean energy and electric vehicle manufacturing, industry experts say. Andhra Pradesh will be one of the leaders in sustainable mobility as more cities switch to electric public transport.

The inauguration of the Simhapuri e-bus depot power room marks another significant step in Andhra Pradesh’s green transportation journey.

With better charging infrastructure and continued investment in electric mobility, the state is on the way to cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable public transportation in the future.
