Anekal police on the outskirts of Bengaluru have arrested seven people for allegedly participating in an illegal country-made pistol sale racket. The arrests were made after police caught the accused near Haldenahalli railway station in Anekal while receiving the firearms.
According to Anekal police, five country-made pistols and 10 live bullets were recovered from the accused in the operation. The seizure has brought attention to the illegal circulation and sale of firearms in areas on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
The arrested individuals are identified as Pradeep Ramesh Mesh Ram (30), Rizwan Pasha (36), Manoj (28), Venkataraj (26), Shivaraj (30), Gopi (28), and Nanjappa (30).
Police said the seven were involved in the illegal sale of country-made pistols. Based on the information about the suspected transaction, Anekal police reached the area near Haldenahalli railway station, where the accused were allegedly waiting to hand over the weapons.
The police operation resulted in the accused being caught red-handed, according to officials. Five country-made pistols were seized and 10 live bullets were seized in the operation, federal officials said.
