The cultural capital of Karnataka, Mysuru, was filled with intense devotion and celebration on Ashada Friday when thousands of devotees converged on the Chamundeshwari Temple on Chamundi Hills on this special day in the state’s city to worship the state’s most respected presiding deity.
From the early hours of the morning, devotees from Mysuru and other parts of Karnataka queued up for darshan, with many of them standing in line at one of the state’s most important pilgrimage centres. Devotional chants, traditional music, and spiritual fervour were the soundtrack to the temple.
Goddess Adorned in Nagalakshmi Alankara
The most spectacular part of the day was the Nagalakshmi Alankara of Goddess Chamundeshwari. The deity was festooned with beautiful ornaments, bright flowers, traditional silk dresses, and precious jewellery, presenting a divine and grand appearance that attracted the attention of devotees.
The special alankara signals prosperity, protection, and divine blessings, which makes Ashada Fridays so important for devotees who wish to receive the Goddess’s grace.

Temple priests conducted a series of elaborate religious ceremonies beginning before sunrise.

Heavy Rush of Devotees
As Ashada Friday is one of the most auspicious days for the worship of Goddess Chamundeshwari, a very large number of pilgrims visited the temple.
