From the early hours of the morning, devotees from Mysuru and other parts of Karnataka queued up for darshan, with many of them standing in line at one of the state’s most important pilgrimage centres. Devotional chants, traditional music, and spiritual fervour were the soundtrack to the temple.

Goddess Adorned in Nagalakshmi Alankara

The most spectacular part of the day was the Nagalakshmi Alankara of Goddess Chamundeshwari. The deity was festooned with beautiful ornaments, bright flowers, traditional silk dresses, and precious jewellery, presenting a divine and grand appearance that attracted the attention of devotees.

The special alankara signals prosperity, protection, and divine blessings, which makes Ashada Fridays so important for devotees who wish to receive the Goddess’s grace.

Thousands patiently waited for hours to watch the beautiful idol and participate in the spiritual celebrations.

Special Rituals Held Since Early Morning

Temple priests conducted a series of elaborate religious ceremonies beginning before sunrise.

The rituals included:

  • Mahabhishekam to the deity.
  • Special Archana and Alankara.
  • Maha Mangalarati.
  • Offering of sacred prasadam.
  • Vedic hymns and devotional prayers.

The whole temple complex was colorful with flowers and traditional decorations, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Heavy Rush of Devotees

As Ashada Friday is one of the most auspicious days for the worship of Goddess Chamundeshwari, a very large number of pilgrims visited the temple.

Families, women who were Ashada Friday participants, elderly devotees, and tourists formed long queues across the temple premises and surrounding pathways.

Many devotees offered coconuts, fruits, sarees, flowers, and special prayers for prosperity, good health, family welfare, and success.

Authorities Make Extensive Arrangements

With the large turnout, the district administration and the Chamundeshwari Temple Management made arrangements to ensure smooth darshan.

There were more police and volunteers on hand to control the crowds and to maintain the security of the temple premises.

Special arrangements included:

  • Separate queue systems for devotees.
  • Drinking water facilities.
  • Medical assistance teams.
  • Traffic management around Chamundi Hills.
  • Additional parking facilities.
  • Public announcement systems for crowd guidance.

The coordinated efforts helped devotees to have darshan in an orderly manner despite the heavy rush.

Ashada Friday Holds Special Significance

Ashada Fridays are considered highly sacred in Karnataka, especially for devotees of Goddess Chamundeshwari and other forms of Goddess Shakti.

In this holy month, thousands of women pray and fast for their families, seeking the blessings of the Goddess for the well-being of their homes, prosperity, and happiness.

The Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru is still one of the most important centres of worship during Ashada and draws devotees from all over the state each Friday of the month.

A Spiritually Enriching Celebration

The grand celebrations once again highlighted Mysuru's rich spiritual and cultural heritage. Chamundi Hills’ beautifully decorated deity, the rituals, and devotees’ participation made it a very religious place by nature.

When the devotees returned after receiving the blessings of Goddess Chamundeshwari, many described the divine darshan of the Nagalakshmi Alankara as a deeply spiritual and memorable experience.
