Assam Revises UG Admission Schedule 2026–27: CUET Registration Begins July 8, Classes Start August 1

The Assam Government has also announced an updated schedule for undergraduate (UG) admissions for the 2026–27 academic session through the Assam SAMARTH Admission Portal with new dates and timeframes for CUET and Non-CUET applicants. The new notification is for the sake of smooth admission of thousands of students in colleges and universities across the state.

According to the new schedule, registration for candidates who have appeared in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) will be done from July 8 to July 13, 2026. Eligible students must complete their registration on the SAMARTH Admission Portal within this time frame to be able to enter the admission.

For applicants who are not applying through CUET, the government has scheduled the Final Registration-cum-Spot Admission from July 29 to July 31, 2026. It will be able to fill vacant seats in participating institutions and will provide another chance to the eligible candidates to get admitted.

The revised admission calendar also confirms that first-semester classes for the 2026–27 academic session will begin on August 1, 2026, to ensure that the academic year begins on schedule after the admissions are completed.

The Assam SAMARTH Admission Portal is the state’s centralized online admission system to help students access the undergraduate admissions process, including online registration, merit list publication, seat allocation, and admission confirmation through a single digital platform.

We urge all aspiring students to review the revised schedule and complete all the stages of admission within the time periods set. Failure to register or attend the admission date will prevent you from being admitted to the desired institution.

Students applying through the CUET route should ensure that their examination details and supporting documents are properly uploaded while completing their registration. Likewise, Non-CUET candidates should be ready for the final registration and spot admission process at the end of July.

As stated in the updated timeline, educational institutions in Assam are expected to publish institution-specific admission guidelines, seat availability, and merit lists through the SAMARTH portal. Candidates should keep track of the portal regularly for counselling, document verification, and seat allocation.

The revision of the admission schedule should help thousands of students to know when they can start and when not, and will result in better coordination between universities, colleges, and applicants. With the academic session starting on August 1, officials have made sure to get the admission process through as well as promptly.

Students should keep all required academic certificates, identity documents, CUET scorecards (where applicable), and other necessary records on hand to avoid last-minute complications while registering and being admitted.

The revised schedule is in line with the Assam Government’s commitment to making the admission process transparent, quick, and student-friendly via the digital SAMARTH platform.
