A 23-year-old married woman was found dead in Galagali village of Bilagi taluk in Bagalkot district of Karnataka’s Bagalkot district, the police confirmed. The incident has shocked the local population after it was reported that a video recorded during the incident is being examined by the police.
The deceased was Bhagyashree, also known as Pragati Jagalur (23). She had been married to Praveen Jagalur for about six years, and the couple has a young son.
Police suspect that the woman’s death might not have been a suicide, and investigators are investigating whether she was killed, although they have not yet gotten the full picture of what happened.
Police have detained Praveen Jagalur for questioning as part of the investigation. There are no charges at this stage, however.
The case is being investigated by the Bilagi Police Station. Bagalkot Superintendent of Police Siddharth Goyal visited the scene to review the investigation and oversee the collection of evidence.
