In a major drive to curb traffic violations and ensure public safety, Ballari Police have launched a crackdown on heavy vehicles moving through the mining region. During the special drive, 32 heavy trucks that were found to be breaking transport laws were seized, and FIRs were filed against 42 people for various offences.
The move follows growing complaints from residents about the reckless movement of mining trucks, traffic congestion, and safety issues in the area.
Special Drive in Mining Areas
Ballari is one of the key mining areas in Karnataka, and heavy trucks ferrying minerals pass through there daily. But residents have frequently complained about overloaded trucks, traffic violations, road damage, and accidents caused by the high number of vehicles in the area.
As they recognized these issues, the police launched an inspection drive on key mining routes to track vehicles that are not following transport and traffic rules and to identify vehicles that are not adhering to the rules.
The operation involved the inspection of several heavy trucks and multiple instances of rule violations in the process.
32 Trucks Seized
Police seized 32 heavy trucks for violating transport norms and other legal requirements.
