A dispute between two groups in Peenya’s Gulbarga colony turned into a deadly one when a rowdy-sheeter was allegedly attacked by a group of men and died from his injuries. Deepak alias Deepu (26) was a rowdy-sheeter of the Nandini Layout area and the incident happened on 27 September after an earlier clash between the groups.
It is believed that the attack was caused by a clash that happened two days before Deepu's death. Deepu, along with Eshwar Nepali and Suman alias Parivala, were reported as having been in an argument with some others. A dispute over a minor matter was then said to have turned into a violent one and Deepu was killed.
Deepu was attacked by around seven to eight people at night on September 27 in Gulbarga Colony, Peenya and was stabbed by them and assaulted, the attackers said. Deepu was stabbed with a knife at some stage and he sustained serious injuries. The sudden escalation of the dispute into a group attack has raised fears on the ground.
Deepu suffered severe injuries in the knife attack and was immediately taken for medical aid. However, he was said to be in serious condition and died at the hospital. While efforts were made to treat the injuries, the man died. By now it is a murder case so the police are doing all they can to investigate the attack and the people involved.
Deepu’s body was shifted to Victoria Hospital after that for further medical and legal treatment. A post-mortem examination is expected to be performed in the course of the investigation to document the injuries and determine the medical cause of death. The development has added to the police investigation as officers investigate what was occurring at the time of the attack.
The Peenya Police have registered a case and are investigating the alleged murder. The investigators are looking into the previous dispute between Deepu, Eshwar Nepali and Suman alias Parivala to see whether it was the direct cause of the attack. Police may also question people who saw the earlier clash and those who were in Gulbarga Colony when the attack happened.
The role of seven to eight persons is believed to have been involved in the attack. The police are seeking to identify the suspects and determine the role each individual played. Evidence gathered from the scene, witness interviews and available CCTV footage could aid investigators in piecemeal reconstruction of the sequence of events. The police will also investigate if the attack was a spontaneous escalation of the previous dispute or whether the attackers had planned the assault.
The killing has once again brought attention to the escalation of local disputes into serious violence. A clash that started two days earlier was said to result in Deepu’s death following the alleged knife attack. The initial information indicates the previous clash was the reason for the assault but the motive for that attack and circumstances will be ascertained through the police investigation.

The incident has caused residents of Gulbarga Colony and the area around it to be very worried. The case is registered at Peenya Police Station and investigators are focusing on finding all those involved in Deepak’s death and the reason for his death. The body is at Victoria Hospital for the necessary procedures to bring in evidence to police.
