Baghel dismissed rumours of a reshuffle in the state unit, saying the Congress high command has already made its decision and there is no question of revisiting it.

"Appointing a Congress president is not a game of 'gudda-guddi' (playing with dolls). The party high command's decision will not be changed," Baghel said, making it clear that Raja Warring will be at the helm of the Punjab Congress.

He also stressed that the Congress does not have a tradition of reversing decisions taken by the party leadership, underlining that the matter should now be considered settled.

Party Backs High Command's Decision

According to Baghel, the decision has unanimous support within the party.

He said District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents and members of the Punjab Congress Committee have welcomed the high command's decision. Party leaders have also congratulated the newly appointed working presidents, which he said reflects unity within the organisation.

Baghel's remarks came during his visit to Punjab, where he held several meetings with District Congress Committee presidents, senior party leaders and office-bearers in order to assess the organisation’s readiness for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.

 Focus on Strengthening the Organisation

Baghel stressed the party’s priorities and said that the Congress is focused on strengthening its grassroots network and that leaders work together to build a strong organisational structure.

The party would like to be united and focus on preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections instead of getting distracted by all the internal speculation, he said.

The Congress leadership, he said, is committed to strengthening the organisation across Punjab to achieve its aims of taking on its political opponents in 2027.

 Outreach to Senior Leaders

Baghel said he has already spoken to senior Congress leaders Charanjit Singh Channi and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa about differences in the state unit.

He said he would meet both leaders personally and if necessary visit their homes to have a conversation.

"If necessary, I will personally visit their homes and meet them over a cup of tea," Baghel said, highlighting the party's efforts to keep unity among its senior leadership.

With Baghel’s categorical statement, the Congress has sought to put an end to speculation about the Punjab Congress chief’s post. The leadership has reaffirmed its confidence in Raja Warring and shifted its focus to organisational development and preparations for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
