The incident occurred in Old Adarsh Colony near the railway gate when the motorcycle rider stopped his motorcycle after the gate was closed for an approaching train. Several vehicles were waiting near the crossing, and the bike caught fire instantly, which happened in seconds, said one eyewitness.

And then flames erupted from the motorcycle, and people who were near it were scared to death. As soon as the rider realised smoke and flames were coming from the vehicle, he got off the bike and ran away. Within minutes, the fire intensified and engulfed the whole motorcycle.

Witnesses said that the bike was destroyed in almost 10 minutes. The smoke in the burning vehicle brought a crowd to the scene, and some people tried to control the fire with water and sand before emergency help arrived.

Preliminary suspicion is that excessive heat and high temperatures may have caused the motorcycle’s petrol tank to overheat and caused the fire accident. Bidar and other parts of Karnataka have been experiencing high summer heat in recent days, and the overheating of vehicles is a concern.

Fortunately, no other vehicles or pedestrians were injured in the process. The rider was able to escape quickly and so prevented a much more serious accident, which, in the event of the rider having entered a crowded railway crossing, would have happened.

Residents of the area said the flames spread quickly due to the petrol in the motorcycle, and there was almost no time to save the vehicle. The burning bike was quickly circulated on social media, and residents and commuters took notice.

There was also a brief disruption to traffic near the railway gate as passengers crowded around the gate, watching the fire. Traffic stopped briefly until it was out.

There will be an investigation by local authorities, and the cause of the fire will be determined. Initial accounts would indicate the vehicle overheated because of the high heat, but officials have not given the final technical assessment yet.

Experts often advise vehicle owners to regularly check fuel lines, electrical wiring, and engine conditions during extreme summer weather, as overheating can sometimes trigger sudden fire accidents in two-wheelers and other vehicles.

All that was too much to do as the rider escaped as well. The problem of excessive heat and proper vehicle maintenance on peak summer days was again highlighted, and the people of the city were relieved that he had been rescued.

Further investigation is ongoing.
