With this move, Blinkit has become one of the first quick commerce platforms (at least in India) to operate within an airport. Visitors at Terminal 2 are able to order from an array of more than 2,500 products available (snacks, beverages, personal care essentials, travel essentials and even last-minute items) right inside the airport.

Convenience for Travelers

The service is designed for air travelers who quickly get short time with their schedule. For instance, when it comes to finding the forgotten toiletries, snacks just to travel to town or quickly moving items during transit, Blinkit would like to bridge that void with fast delivery as well.

The passengers can simply place orders using the Blinkit app and receive items during select pick-up points or other sites from the terminal depending on delivery service.

Expanding Quick Commerce

This launch is a major step forward in rapidly growing quick commerce hubs that are high-footfall. Many short delivery websites today were primarily based on residential and urban delivery areas but Blinkit is stepping in on the ground because airports are a new hotfield for instant deliveries of products as well as that of international delivery and shipping.

Some in the industry think that this will help to change the airport retail model much faster with more flexibility compared to a traditional store, whose pricing will ultimately be as expensive as many other stores will be with limited options.

Enhancing Airport Experience

Instant delivery services for airport passengers will help to improve overall travelers in one of India’s largest airports. By volume of millions of travelers seeing Terminal 2 year in and year out, people want access to daily things easily and with them very soon.

What this means for the future?

Blinkit’s entry to the airport may also help it to have similar services in other major airports around the country. Companies are increasingly competing with one another in the fast trade space of online commerce with which consumers are more and more demanding and that’s exactly the way in which they want to reach a consumer far beyond home and office.

It gives people more sense of convenience, less stress and a more seamless airport experience if people can handle any last-minute demands and don't have to rush the cash rush in malls full of shopping at the last-minute or at the last second and when everything has to happen last minute without being rushed off the floor.

This also underscores the way that technology-driven service continues to transform daily life at many different levels even for well-planned airports.
