Bulldozer Action in Sonbhadra: Police Destroy 130 Illegal Hooters and Loudspeakers

Police in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh came out in force to remove illegally-fitted hooters and loudspeakers from many vehicles by way of an intensive drive. There were also some hooters but all of them (the ones which can play loud and sometimes even vulgar things on trucks and other vehicles) were taken down and were destroyed in a bulldozer and brought out for sale. Such bold action has grabbed many headlines around the state now as a symbol for maximum effective enforcement, for a good or bad.

The drive went on under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar and Circle Officer Randhir Mishra. Police conducted checks along Lodhi Toll Plaza and Robertsganj town, where vehicles were checked for illegal sound devices.

  • Total devices destroyed: 130 hooters and loudspeakers
  • Method: Seized and demolished immediately with a bulldozer
  • Reason: For maintaining the right road discipline and reducing accidents which can result from distraction and noise

There was a bulldozer on the site as much in the practical sense and symbolic display of force that violations will not be tolerated.

That’s highly symbolic for truck loudspeakers that make some people laugh now and again and they feel unsafe in the way trucks are loud. Police had decided to put the devices to rest publicly, to emphasize law and order over recklessness.

And the bulldozer itself has come to be considered a symbol of ruthless enforcement in Uttar Pradesh (for taking the aggressive measures in order to come to justice against people who carry out illegal activities) so we have had the sense of urgency in the campaigns in that regard.

But as a side effect of loud music and hooters the stress and accidents escalate when we get a big boom they just make air pollution with the loud and hooters loud.

Distracted driving is a major cause of mishaps and removing these machines prevents injuries.

Policies in Public Discipline: We will be setting an example for other districts to follow now.

The development also underscores increasing awareness on the health and safety effects that noise has for people. Police approached vehicles specifically in the field.

The bulldozer drive in Sonbhadra is actually not just the result of an anticlerical crackdown. It is a reminder that respect for rules ensures safety for all. The removal and destruction of 130 illegal hooters and loudspeakers show no bones of noise pollution control and sanity returning to normal. But for public citizens this is both a threat and a guarantee: the action will take place.
