A road accident in Karnataka's Chitradurga district claimed the life of a 30-year-old man and injured a woman after a car allegedly veered off the road and crashed onto a footpath near T. Nulenur in Holalkere Taluk.

The accident came as the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle when driving through the area, but instead of staying on the road, it suddenly mounted the footpath and hit people who were standing nearby. One person died and another was seriously injured.
The deceased was Pradeep (30), a resident of Dagge village in Holalkere taluk. He suffered fatal injuries in the crash and could not be saved, said local people.
Another woman who was also struck by the vehicle was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by local residents and emergency personnel. Doctors are still treating her injuries and her condition is stable, medical personnel said.
