Following weeks of mass protests over the NEET paper leak, young people’s political party Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is turning its focus from street protests to long-term strategy planning. The organization’s core management will be in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra on April 5th to hold a two-day strategy meeting to discuss the future course of the movement.
The high-level meeting will take place in the residence of CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and will have key leaders and spokespersons for the organization and the founder himself. Internal discussions will mostly revolve around the next phase of the youth movement, how to spread the organization to different parts of the world and to carefully review the suggestions that they have received from volunteers and students around the world.
Before starting the strategy session, CJP activists and volunteers were asked to spend time with their families after a month-long campaign at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. CJP core members also had to engage in direct communication with local students and supporters to get feedback and ideas for the summit. The leadership will look for their feedback in order to assess the impact of the recent protests and develop plans to grow the youth audience.
Past victories and roadmap. The recent wave of protests led by CJP—including the spectacular Jantar Mantar protests and the famous 'Chalo Sansad' march—gained widespread support and led to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Now, with this big success under the belt, public and political focus has shifted to the party’s future policy projects as leaders prepare for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar consultations.
The party said the CJP leaders have spoken with a variety of actors and ensured they are in touch with all their stakeholders to help shape the party’s future. The group also had nearly 50 core volunteers that were focused on Delhi protests and their experiences and insights were incorporated in the policy discussions. Saurav Das, Chief Spokesperson of the party, said that the outcome proved young people can influence change for the better. “The team is already working on how to turn the younger generation into something that will be meaningful.”
After the strategy meet, the CJP will embark on a nationwide listening tour to continuously assess the evolving needs and expectations of youth across the country. Details of these next steps and the expected national tour schedule will be disclosed at a press conference.
