Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay paid loving tributes to former Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Kumaraswami Kamaraj, popularly known as K. Kamaraj, on his birth anniversary. He said Kamaraj's contributions to public service, education, and inclusive governance for generations to come are as high as any other politician in India's political history.
The Chief Minister presented floral tributes to Kamaraj's portrait during the occasion and pointed out the significance of Kamaraj's ideas in modern-day management. Kamaraj’s leadership made a difference to Tamil Nadu via education, rural development, and welfare-oriented government, he said. Ministers, legislators, government officers, and the general public came out for this ceremony to pay homage to the man who is known as the “Kingmaker” of our politics.
K. Kamaraj, born on 15 July 1903, is one of the most celebrated political figures in Tamil Nadu. As Chief Minister of the then Madras State from 1954 to 1963, he laid the foundation for the state's educational progress. His government opened thousands of schools, made it easier for rural children to study, and introduced measures to reduce the dropout rate in schools. His policies have been widely hailed as a major factor in the progression of literacy and educational opportunities in the state.
Kamaraj's greatest contribution to education was that children from economically poorer backgrounds were educated. In his administration, schools were built in villages, and education was available in villages in which there were no basic facilities. His governance style is one of simplicity, honesty, and people-centered development, and it is something that has been enjoyed by all political parties.
The Chief Minister observed that Kamaraj's view extended beyond education to agriculture, irrigation, industrial development, and infrastructure. Many irrigation projects and industrial projects were implemented under his leadership to boost Tamil Nadu’s economy in the long run. Many of these projects still benefit the state decades after they were implemented.
Kamaraj was also paid homage by leaders of different political parties to show how much respect he still commands in Indian politics. Political leaders of both sides of the political spectrum have consistently hailed him for his integrity, his administrative ability, and his dedication to public welfare. His simple lifestyle and honesty continue to be models for today's politicians.
Kamaraj's birthday was celebrated in Tamil Nadu, and teachers, students, and community bodies had special programs, essay competitions, cultural events, and cultural festivals on the anniversary of his birth. In Tamil Nadu, millions of children and schools also had awareness programs in order to be aware of Kamaraj and his contributions to the nation-building of the nation and education.
Kamaraj is one of India's most influential administrators, historians say, far beyond Tamil Nadu, playing an important role in national politics and has a reputation among the political leaders of Congress as a member of the "Kamaraj Plan," in which senior Congress leaders agreed to resign from ministerial positions in order to strengthen the party. His role in national politics led to him being called the "Kingmaker," in particular for his role in selecting prime ministers during a prime political period in India.
The Chief Minister said citizens in general, especially young people, must take inspiration from Kamaraj’s principles of honesty, humility, and selfless service. Governance must always be concerned with the lives of the people, and Kamaraj’s life demonstrated that visionary leadership can change society through education and inclusive development and that visionaries can make people better people.

The birth anniversary celebrations were a time for the government to reaffirm the quality of education, social justice, and ethical public administration, ideas that Kamaraj cherished throughout his political career. Ministers said they would continue the development programs that were established in his name.
Tributes poured in at the Tamil Nadu memorial to one of the country’s greatest leaders, and Kamaraj’s legacy is indelible in Indian politics. From freedom fighter to statesman, and through his life and work, he has inspired generations of people in India who are today leading the country.
