On the second counting of the hundi (donation box), temple officials said that donations had crossed several crores. The process is carried out under the control of HR&CE (Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments) and has to do with cash, gold and other offerings of devotees'. It is done once every couple of years in view of the generosity of the many Hindus who travel to the city from every part of India and abroad to seek blessings from Palani.

Palani Temple is one of the most sacred places for Lord Murugan's devotees.
