His visit comes as preparations for the grand chariot procession are in the final stage and lakhs of devotees are expected to arrive in the temple town to witness the centuries-old tradition.

Pradhan offered prayers to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra in the spirit of the festival so that it would be peaceful and successful for all to come there. He met temple officials and reviewed the arrangements for the devotees and emphasized the importance of preserving Odisha’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

The Rath Yatra is one of the most celebrated festivals in Hinduism, drawing pilgrims and tourists from all over India and the world. Each year, the deities are taken out of the sanctum sanctorum and put on beautiful wooden chariots of the temple and pulled by thousands of devotees on the streets of Puri to the Gundicha Temple.

Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the global significance of Jagannath culture and said that the festival will be one of India's great festivals of faith, cohesion, and devotion. He expressed confidence that the administration and temple authorities have everything in place to have a peaceful and safe event.

The government has made elaborate arrangements for crowd control, traffic management, medical facilities, sanitation, and security and has sent thousands of police and emergency response teams and volunteers to deal with the enormous number of pilgrims expected to arrive at the festival.

The Odisha government has also collaborated with different agencies to improve surveillance and transportation services, and to provide necessary services throughout the Rath Yatra period. Special trains and buses are provided for devotees coming from different parts of the country.

Rath Yatra is not only a religious event but also a celebration of Odisha’s cultural identity. It is a cultural event that is known for traditional rituals, music, art, and community participation, which makes it one of India’s most iconic spiritual events. The construction of the massive wooden chariots by skilled artisans, which use traditional methods, is one of the festival’s most distinctive elements.

The devotees think that to participate in or to witness the Rath Yatra brings spiritual merit and divine blessings. The pulling of the chariots symbolizes devotion and equality, and they believe that Lord Jagannath comes out of the temple to bless all devotees, whether they have a family or society.

Pradhan’s visit ahead of the festival highlights the importance of the festival at the cultural and national level. Puri is ready for millions of devotees for another edition of the sacred Rath Yatra, continuing a tradition that has bonded generations through faith, devotion, and shared heritage.
