Dr Muskan Soni, a Madhya Pradesh dentist, has been suspended from the All India Dental Students and Surgeons Association (AIDSA) after a video in which she mockingly mocked the murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal spread on social media.
The disciplinary action was announced on Monday by AIDSA Madhya Pradesh. In an official statement, the association said Dr Soni had been removed from her position as Treasurer and her membership had also been suspended for violating the organisation’s code of conduct and ethical standards.
It has been found that she has committed acts of indiscipline and made highly inappropriate, offensive and disrespectful remarks about the late Mr. Ketan Agrawal, which are in clear violation of the Constitution, Code of Conduct and ethical values of the All India Dental Students and Surgeons Association (AIDSA).
According to her LinkedIn profile, Dr Muskan Soni is a dentist based in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
The controversy started when Soni uploaded a video on Instagram commenting on the murder of Ketan Agarwal. As she referred to the facts of the case, she said, "That Pune guy, he had no hair... If you say such lies, you will obviously die... So hashtag I hate men."

Her comments were connected to an investigation which found that Ketan’s fiancée Siya had allegedly objected to marrying him because he had hair loss and wore a wig.
Ketan Agarwal’s family has denied any deception. They said that Ketan’s minor hair loss, which was due to a medical condition, and his use of a wig had been revealed to Siya’s family before their engagement.
Following the immense criticism on the web, Dr Soni released a video apologising for her statements.
"I am very, very sorry for the words I have used," she said, and said her words had offended people.
She apologised but defended the use of the phrase "I hate men" because she did in fact feel it was a personal experience from her past, and not directed at the victim.
The controversy comes as public attention is on the murder of 26-year-old Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal.
Ketan was allegedly pushed to his death from Lohagad Fort by his fiancée Siya and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhari on June 18, police said. Siya, investigators say, had lured Ketan to the fort in the name of her birthday.
The case was initially treated as an accidental fall but investigators found inconsistencies in Siya’s statements and identified a hooded man near them on CCTV footage. Police later said it was Chetan Chaudhari, who was in a relationship with Siya before her engagement to Ketan.
According to investigators, Siya said she did not call off the engagement because she feared it would bring dishonour to her family.
Ketan's family has also made additional allegations, saying Siya had earlier hidden his passport to prevent a trip he had planned for Bali and tried to push him out of Lohagad Fort just days before the fatal incident. These allegations are part of a larger investigation and the case is ongoing.
The incident of Dr Muskan Soni has reignited the debate on professional behaviour in public comments on sensitive criminal cases and grieving families and ongoing investigations.
