The vehicle was pursued after the alleged attempt to escape, the report said. One of its wheels was damaged and the car was driven on its metal rim during the chase, the report said. The driver continued driving and did not stop and police and members of the public continued the chase.

The unusual sight of a vehicle moving along the road with a damaged wheel added to the tense situation as the chase continued from Karbi Anglong towards Nagaon district.

During the escape attempt, the vehicle collided with more than one other vehicle while travelling the course, the report said. The collisions disturbed traffic and increased the risk of the chase.

Police were able to intercept the vehicle in Nagaon district and ended the chase. It is not clear why the vehicle fled and how the chase began.

The incident underlines the dangers of trying to evade police on busy streets. If a car still drives after major damage to the wheel, not only can the car be damaged but so can other people on the road.

The collisions with other vehicles that are reported by others will also be part of the investigation into the incident. The sequence of events will be established by authorities, including why the vehicle was being pursued, how the tyre was damaged and what happened during the journey between Karbi Anglong and Nagaon.

If pictures or videos of the incident were available it would give a better sense of the dramatic chase and condition of the vehicle as it continued along the road.

The car was stopped in Nagaon, ending the reported pursuit in Karbi Anglong. Any police reports of any arrests, injuries, damage to other vehicles or other activities would be made public.

The chase attracted attention due to the unusual circumstances in the chase, and especially the vehicle was seen to run several kilometres on a metal rim after a tyre was damaged, which is unusual in itself.
