A tragic incident in Gurugram has shocked residents after a 25-year-old software engineer allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death inside his PG accommodation before jumping in front of a moving train, police said.
The deceased were identified as Shreshth Malik, a resident of Chhattisgarh, and Ishara Ayubi, who came from Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh and had an affiliation with a private company in Gurugram.
Ayubi moved into Malik's PG accommodation three days before the attack; they had been in a relationship.
The crime took place inside the PG where the couple had recently begun living together, police said. Initial reports suggest that Malik attacked Ayubi with a knife after an argument began between them, police said. She suffered multiple stab injuries and died at the scene.
After the murder, Malik is thought to have left the PG and later died by suicide by jumping in front of a moving train. Police are waiting for post-mortem and forensic reports to establish the facts of the incident and the cause of death.
The incident came to light after the PG owner and friends were unable to contact the couple. When the authorities reached the room, they found Ayubi with multiple stab wounds. At the same time, police were informed about a railway track death which was later identified as Malik.

Investigators recovered the murder weapon from the room and sealed the crime scene for forensic examination. Initial findings are that there was no evidence of forced entry and no third person was involved.
Police have collected electronic devices, including mobile phones, and are looking at digital communications to piece together.
Officials are also recording statements from colleagues, friends, and family members to get a sense of the couple’s relationship and whether there had been any previous disputes.
While investigators suspect a personal dispute could have been at work that led to the incident, they have not ruled out a motive and have asked the public not to conjecture until the investigation is over.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations, and the reports will give further information on the cause and timing of both deaths. Legal proceedings are underway, and the families of the deceased have been informed.
I think this situation again has brought to light the tragic implications of relationships getting into a state of conflict which escalate into violence and how well mental health professionals are trained to help you when you have difficulty with this.
Police said the investigation was ongoing and a full report would be prepared after forensic evidence, witness statements, and post-mortem findings have been reviewed. The deaths of the two young professionals have left their families, friends, and colleagues in deep shock.
