Hoskote Highway Accident: 7 Dead in XUV-Canter-Bike Collision

A mournful mood descended on Bengaluru Rural district on Friday morning of February 13, 2026, after a fatal vehicle accident took the lives of seven people. It happened on the Hoskote-Dabaspet National Highway (NH-648) near M. Satyavara village by the high-speed chain reaction of an XUV automobile along with a motorcyclist and a canter truck at that instant. The collision reportedly occurred in the early hours of Friday, police reports said. All seven victims died instantly on the scene of the collision from the overwhelming force of the collision, leaving the hit vehicles as mangled piles of metal.

The Sequence of Events

Initial investigations by the Devanahalli and Hoskote police indicate that speeding was the main cause of the carnage.

  • First Impact: A Mahindra XUV, traveling at high speed toward Dabaspet, reportedly struck a motorcycle from behind.
  • The Killing Swerve: This had the effect of losing total control of the vehicle. The car then veered sharply toward the oncoming side of a canter truck and hit its passenger cabin.

The Casualties

Six deaths were inflicted on by occupants of the XUV, while the seventh was a motorcycle rider.

Those killed were identified as Bengaluru residents. Six of the deceased are residents of Kothanur a municipality in Bengaluru. It is believed they were traveling together at work or on a personal trip when it happened. Police are now in the process both of reporting the accident to their families and bringing bodies over to nearby government hospitals where they are awaiting postmortem examinations.

The Hoskote-Dabaspet stretch has seen the traffic in past years steadily rise. But at the Satyavara village junction near the center, locals have been complaining frequently about lack of speed breakers and inadequate illumination on roads.

Response and Investigation by police

As soon as after the incident occurred, senior police officers from the Bengaluru Rural division visited the spot. "The scene was horrific. The XUV was pinned beneath the front of the canter, making it almost impossible to extricate the bodies. Over-speeding seems to be the likely culprit, but we’re considering if there was any mechanical failure or even visibility issue,” said a senior officer at the site.

Traffic on the NH-648 was disrupted for several hours as cranes were moved to clear the wreckage. A case had also been registered hereon under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash and negligent driving.
