The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in a number of parts of North India, and Delhi, Haryana and Punjab are among the regions that could see rain in the coming days. Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning are also possible in some parts of the region.
The weather system will keep skies cloudy over Delhi-NCR and give relatively favorable conditions, and the heat in Delhi is much more intense. But residents should be alert to sudden showers and thunderstorms, especially during changing weather.
Heavy Rain Alert for Several States
According to the IMD forecast, Uttarakhand is expected to experience heavy rainfall between September 10 and September 13. The hill state is also expected to experience thunderstorms with heavy rainfall and lightning in some areas.
The weather department is forecasting widespread rainfall in parts of Uttarakhand from September 11 to September 14. Given the state's mountainous terrain, heavy rain can lead to localized waterlogging, landslides and disruption to travel.
Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab are expected to have heavy rainfall on September 14 and September 15, according to the forecast.
The region is also expected to get light to moderate rainfall during the entire period from September 9 to September 15.
Thunderstorms Possible Over East Uttar Pradesh
The weather conditions in East Uttar Pradesh are also expected to remain unsettled for the rest of the week. The IMD has already forecast thunderstorms in the region on September 9 and September 10.
Light to moderate rainfall is expected in East Uttar Pradesh between September 9 and September 15. Residents in the vicinity of thunderstorms must be prepared for lightning and are advised to take precautions, especially during lightning strikes and thunderstorms.
West Uttar Pradesh could also see light rainfall between September 11 and September 15.
Delhi-NCR Weather Likely to Remain Cloudy
The forecast of cloudy skies for residents of Delhi and nearby areas might not be without cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall, but there will be a mix of cloudy skies and occasional rainfall from this weather.
