Narendra Modi and Lee Jae Myung deep-dived into their relationship during a major diplomatic conference, when the prime minister said peace, stability and cooperation between their governments, as expressed by the two the day before, are all so vitally important. The two meet under a collective statement in New Delhi under the auspices of the state of the New Delhi-backed initiative.
Global geopolitical tensions are at their most unprecedented peak today and partnerships like this seem all the more necessary. Prime Minister Modi emphasised the need for unity and peace are two sides of the same coin. India and South Korea are collaborating on promoting a peaceful and fair Indo-Pacific, he said.
Developing South Korea’s engagement in several key global initiatives, such as the International Solar Alliance and the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative, is a key milestone in South Korea’s strategic partnership with India. During one of the significant parts of the summit, a new pillar the “India-Korea Digital Bridge” was established through the use of which technology collaboration in advanced new technology would continue for extended periods of time.
This multi-year project touches on important industries from artificial intelligence to semiconductors to information technology in which both countries' fields of strength and similar interests would be most apparent. Apart from technology, the two nations also conducted several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in shipbuilding, sustainability, steel, port, and other sectors.
On the cultural side of things, it must be prioritized, to build on growing cooperation in the film, animation and gaming industries with a growing impact of creative economies. The economics of the two countries was also of immense conversation.
President Lee Jae Myung pledged to more than double bilateral trade, which has climbed over twenty-five billion dollars to $50 billion, from 2025 to 2030. The target shows the reality that the two countries were establishing mutual economic cooperation and enhancing trade and investment links. President Lee also highlighted India’s increasing global standing notably as a lead (and even a great leader) in the Global South and a long term vision through “Viksit Bharat 2047” initiative. He emphasized South Korea’s strengths in semiconductors and cultural industries, and that there was potential for synergistic partnerships.
Both sides noted the demand for reforms to global systems that are more capable of addressing contemporary issues; especially through multi-lateral initiatives. The summit marks a new chapter in India–South Korea relations in which strategic alignment has merged with economic ambitions and technology integration.
