New Delhi: A tragic road accident in southwest Delhi on Friday took the life of a 20-year-old student seeking higher education in the United States. The boy, identified as Yashvendra, was the son of an Indian Army officer.
According to police, the accident occurred near Nangal Dewat when the car Yashvendra was driving reportedly lost control at a sharp bend and overturned into a roadside drain.
A female friend in the car with him at the time of the crash suffered injuries in the crash. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is now recovering. Her condition has not been officially described as life-threatening.
How the Accident Happened
The police believe the driver may have lost control when negotiating a sharp turn and the car veered off the road and into the drain. Preliminary investigations reveal that it was on a slippery stretch of road after rainfall.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene soon after news of the accident. Yashvendra was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Delhi Police will now investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will examine the site of the accident, the condition of the road, and other factors to identify what could have contributed to the crash.
The investigation will also determine whether speeding was to blame, or whether poor visibility or bad weather was responsible for the incident.
