A murder case in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur district, which has shocked residents, is among the most recent cases after police claimed a 38-year-old married victim was killed and her body dismembered and disposed of at various places.
The victim is identified as Reshma Khan, also known as Sana, by the police, while the accused is Hemal Khakharia, alias Dilip (42), from Gujarat and lives in the Madiyahu area of Jaunpur.
Investigation Started
The case came to light on Sunday morning when residents found the human remains bundled in a black polythene sheet in bushes near the Ranipur Bypass and notified the police.
The remains were sent for a post-mortem examination, and investigators launched an inquiry using electronic evidence and other forensic leads to establish the victim’s identity and trace those responsible.
Alleged Sequence of Events
According to police, the accused had brought the victim to his rented accommodation in Teachers' Colony on July 4.
Investigators allege the two argued after they discussed messages on a mobile phone. The police say they had an argument, and the accused attacked the woman later that night when she was asleep and fatally injured her.
Police said that after the killing, the accused purchased black polythene bags from a nearby market and later dismembered the body before disposing of the remains at different locations to cover up the crime.
These are part of the police investigation and will be subject to judicial scrutiny when the legal process is made.
