Actor & BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, reacting vigorously against a debunked viral social media post claiming that she would marry the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi if he got into the BJP.
The viral post was meant, as has been stated, to give the impression that it had been published by Kangana on her own. The fake news claimed that she had suggested that she was romantically involved with Rahul Gandhi if he changed political parties.
The actress, who spoke out against some leaders and often criticised Mr Gandhi, did not keep quiet after that post went viral across all social media: Sharing the doctored post, the actress attacked the misinformation, calling it “extremely disgraceful,” on her Instagram story. She added she was horrified to see specific narratives being leveraged against women in politics.
Kangana said that fake and defamatory content like this embodies a “distorted mentality” by those who intentionally spread lies online in an effort to solicit clicks or controversy. She further warned other users against disseminating and propagating the fake post, and to be ashamed of their own behaviour.
Kangana made it clear that “cheap acts” that hurt her image would not be condoned or pardoned. For years, Kangana frequently attacked Rahul Gandhi over political issues and his speeches, foreign visits, and India and his remarks. Her hard-hitting comments about other leaders of the opposing party have always sparked political and social media conversations.
The forged post also had a ripple effect of unwanted comments online before Kangana publicly indicated the post had been made up. After the actress said they helped her, many users came out saying they were against edited posts and misleading information on social media and the like. Now, this isn’t the first time Kangana has faced viral gossip.
A few days earlier, rumour after rumour on social media had circulated that she was in love with actor-politician Chirag Paswan. Kangana herself is single now, and numerous online rumours have tried to connect her name to notable figures. Professionally, Kangana is also managing her own career as an actor and politician.
The actress is said to be preparing for Queen 2, the sequel to her critically acclaimed film Queen. Vikas Bahl, the director, is said to be actively involved in preparing the project.
