Karnataka’s weather conditions, in a span of a few places, are still quite dry and extremely hot, as a few regions are experiencing high temperatures and heatwave-like conditions according to that of Karnataka. One further dry day we have one more dry day (35–37°C to 35°C) Bengaluru may get in the forecast for the coming weeks as we see a maximum air temperature of 35°C to 37°C.
While the weather for Bengaluru could change to partly cloudy by night, there will be very few chances for rainfall. The town is likely to be quite warm and at least a bit uncomfortable throughout the day - especially during very afternoon.
North Karnataka areas - Raichur, Vijayapura and Ballari - in particular could see temperatures soar beyond 41°C and Kalaburagi would probably record the highest temperature and possibly a height above 42°C. North Karnataka is under emergency heatwave alert and people should take reasonable measures to safeguard them.
Hence people are advised to stay away from stepping out of city in areas between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., the peak time for the sun to reach peak intensity. That much heat can cause extreme dehydration or heat exhaustion or even heatstroke.
Coastal districts like Mangaluru and Udupi will experience rather lower temperatures for these times, with temperatures between 33°C to 35°C. However, humidity can make conditions feel much hotter, and “feels like” 38°C could be it in theory! Residents on the coast can feel slight relief from sea breeze in the evening.
Malnad (hilly) regions such as Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru will have relatively cooler conditions. These places might also experience some cloudy skies and occasional light drizzling in the areas in case of rain at those areas. These ones might have nights low to 20°C to 22°C temperature, some relief.
Mysuru is going to continue experiencing dry weather with sunny day-to-day conditions and slightly cooler but partly cloudy nights by evening. Rainfall is very short and will not come about.
Moreover, North Karnataka remains the hottest region in this state with temperatures varying between 39°C and 42°C in Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, and Bagalkot districts.
The India Meteorological Department continues to monitor the situation and has exhorted the public to keep hydrated, to wear light clothing, to have less time out for outdoor activity in the heat on the hottest days and avoid excessive outdoor activities at midday, among others.
