Karnataka’s weather forecast is for another episode of rain, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that several parts of the state will experience another spell of rainfall over the coming days.
Sixteen districts, including Bengaluru, will experience rainfall over the next four days, with weather reports of thunderstorms and heavy rain coming. The IMD's latest forecast shows a sense of unsettled weather in Karnataka.
The weather development is occurring as a system over the Bay of Bengal is affecting weather conditions in parts of southern India. As rain is expected to bring some relief from the heat in Karnataka, a number of inland areas have recently seen temperatures drastically different from normal.
Rain Forecast for 16 Karnataka Districts
According to the weather update, the districts expected to receive good rainfall will be Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Vijayapura, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Bengaluru, and Ramanagara.
A yellow alert has been issued for the districts, indicating the possibility of heavy rain and associated weather. The Karnataka warning bulletin from IMD warns of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, lightning, and other weather activity for the state's subdivision areas through September 24.
The weather system is expected to keep the skies cloudy in parts of the state. Residents in affected districts should be cautious during thunderstorms, particularly when lightning and strong winds accompany rainfall.
Bengaluru to Experience Rain Over the Next Few Days
Bengaluru is also likely to experience intermittent rain and thundershowers. The city forecast from IMD shows generally cloudy conditions with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers for September 21. Thunderstorms with lightning could also occur. Rain or thundershowers with strong gusty winds are forecast for September 22, with lighter rainfall conditions in the following days.
The city recorded 16 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours ending September 20, according to the IMD weather report for Bengaluru. Total temperatures are expected to be between 30-31 degrees Celsius, with minimum temperatures around 21 degrees Celsius for the next several days.
The recent rain has already helped ease Bengaluru's hot and humid conditions. But brief spells of heavy rain can be difficult for commuters, especially two-wheeler riders and people travelling during peak hours.
