A fresh political battle erupted in the wake of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s call for Union Home Minister Amit Shah to resign, asking if there was any “shred of shame left” in the wake of an ugly row that has become a hot topic in Parliament and in the country.
Kharge made allegations against the BJP as well, saying the government was failing to uphold accountability and transparency.
The Congress leader said the government wants to avoid responsibility over the matter and he asked Amit Shah to step down from his ministerial chair.

But the BJP rejected the Congress president's allegations thoroughly. Political analysts have said the exchange reflects the more confrontational atmosphere ahead of upcoming elections. The BJP and the Congress will also go all out in Parliament and public rallies as key battlegrounds for public opinion.
The demand for Amit Shah’s resignation is to remain one of the major talking points in national politics for the next few days. The Congress says ministerial accountability is necessary in a democracy but the BJP says it’s politically motivated and has no substance.
