In a big step forward for pilgrims, tourists and regular travellers to Kodagu district for pilgrimage, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) announced a new Rajahamsa bus service between Bengaluru and Bhagamandala starting from October 1. The new service is expected to connect the city to one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in Karnataka, Talakaveri: the holy birthplace of the River Cauvery.
Bhagamandala is famous for pilgrimage to Bhagandeshwara Temple and for travellers travelling to Talakaveri. It attracts tourists as well all the time, with beautiful views and soft hills. KSRTC has introduced the Rajahamsa service overnight to make transportation easy for passengers.
The bus will leave Shantinagar Bus Station in Bengaluru and travel through Mysuru Road Bus Station, Mysuru, Hunsur, Kushalnagar, Madikeri and Karagundu before the bus reaches Bhagamandala. The overnight schedule is designed so that the passengers can travel comfortably at night and reach Kodagu early in the morning, where there is great scope for sightseeing, temple visits or other activities.
The service will also benefit tourists planning weekend getaways to Coorg and nearby destinations. When they arrive early in Madikeri and Bhagamandala, they can easily visit the major places like Talakaveri, Abbey Falls, Raja’s Seat, Mandalpatti, and several coffee plantations in the district.
