Advocate S. Balan, representing accused Pavithra Gowda in the high-profile murder case, made several explosive statements in Haveri, alleging serious irregularities and misconduct by the police investigating the matter.
Balan confirmed that the trial is set to commence shortly, starting from the 17th of this month, and expressed absolute confidence in exonerating his client.
Allegations Against Police Investigation
The most significant claim made by Advocate Balan centered on the integrity of the police investigation and the charge sheet filed.
"I will give one clue. The police have committed 'kithapathi' (mischief or tampering) in this case," Balan stated, immediately escalating the seriousness of his claims. "I say that the police have filed a false charge sheet."
Challenging Forensic Evidence (FSL Report)
Balan specifically targeted a crucial piece of evidence cited by the police in the case: the seizure of hair strands from one of the two vehicles allegedly used in the crime.
- Police Claim: The Investigating Officer (IO) claimed that the hair strands recovered and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) belonged to Pavithra Gowda.
- Balan's Counter-Claim: Balan asserted that the FSL report is inconclusive. "The FSL report has come. The IO says it is Pavithra Gowda's hair. But it has not been determined whose hair it is. This is how the case proceeds."
Vow of Justice and Projected Timeline
Despite acknowledging that the bail application has been rejected—an order he attributed to the Supreme Court Judges—Balan remained resolute in his defense of Pavithra Gowda.
"The case trajectory is wrong. I will bring it back on track. Those who are innocent will come out," he affirmed.
However, he cautioned that the legal process will be lengthy: "I will fight Pavithra Gowda’s case. She will come out. But it will take at least one year for her to be released."
Balan concluded by philosophizing on the nature of legal battles, noting that "truth becomes false, and lies become true. Black becomes white, and white becomes black in the court of law," underlining the complexity of the case. He further noted that the bail of seven individuals involved has been canceled, and they are currently enduring the consequences.
The case involves the murder of a man who was allegedly brought from Chitradurga to Bengaluru, highlighting the dark and intricate details that will unfold during the upcoming trial.
