New Delhi: LPG consumers who missed the earlier deadline of August 23 to complete the electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) process have been given more time to complete the verification. The deadline was extended to August 31, giving consumers additional time to update and authenticate their LPG connection details.
The deadline had been extended from August 16 to August 23. Now consumers who have not yet completed their e-KYC can use the additional window to complete the process. Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have advised customers not to wait until the final day as heavy demand at LPG distributors and increased traffic on mobile applications could make the process more difficult.
The e-KYC process is linked with Aadhaar-based authentication and is meant to ensure that domestic-rate LPG cylinders for genuine household consumers are received. Once verified, eligible consumers can continue to obtain LPG cylinders at the domestic rate. Consumers who do not complete the verification process will not necessarily be stopped from purchasing cylinders at the market price, which can be even higher than the domestic rate.
OMCs have encouraged users to complete verification by either visiting their LPG distributor or using the official mobile application of their LPG provider. Customers who have already had their Aadhaar number linked to their LPG connection will find the authentication process easier.
The e-KYC exercise is also meant to improve the accuracy of LPG consumer records and ensure that benefits meant for genuine households reach the intended beneficiaries. Consumers are therefore advised to check their connection details and complete the authentication process as soon as possible rather than waiting for the extended deadline.
Importantly, the e-KYC process will continue even after August 31 for consumers who obtain new LPG connections. New customers will still need to provide their personal details and complete the necessary verification when registering for an LPG connection.
How to Complete Indane Gas e-KYC
For Indane Gas consumers, the process can be completed through the company’s mobile application using the contact details linked to the LPG account. Customers need to register using their mobile number and email address and enter their 16-digit LPG ID. They can then open the My Profile section and select the e-KYC or Aadhaar authentication option.
After giving consent for Aadhaar-based authentication, consumers will be asked to complete a facial scan as instructed. The Aadhaar FaceRD application is required to complete the face authentication process.
How to complete HP Gas e-KYC
HP Gas consumers can begin by registering on the official mobile application using their LPG-linked contact details. After checking the registered mobile number, customers have to generate an MPIN and access the My HP section.
The e-KYC option can then be selected and consent made for Aadhaar-based authentication. When prompted, the consumer must complete the required facial scan through the Aadhaar FaceRD application to complete the verification.
How to Complete Bharat Gas e-KYC
For Bharat Gas customers, the first step is to register on the mobile application using the contact details associated with the LPG connection. After registration, consumers need to select their LPG connection and access the e-KYC or Aadhaar authentication option.
Customers must provide the required consent and complete the Aadhaar authentication using the FaceRD application. Once the verification is successfully completed, the e-KYC process for the LPG connection will be updated.
Consumers who have yet to complete the process should ideally do so before August 31 to avoid last-minute technical issues or queues at LPG distributors. Keeping the mobile number and Aadhaar details linked to the LPG account updated can also make the authentication process smoother.
The extension is a relief to consumers who were not able to meet the deadline. But customers should not use the extension as a reason to delay verification, especially given the possibility of increased traffic on OMC applications as well as at LPG distributors with the deadline approaching.
