The deceased has been identified as Stuti Sonawane, a student pursuing a Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) degree. She lived with her parents and sister in Antop Hill.

According to police officials, the incident came to light when Stuti did not step out of her room until around 11 a.m. the next morning. Her parents tried calling her several times but received no response. Growing concerned, they eventually broke open the door to her room, where they found her hanging from the ceiling.

Family members immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.

During the investigation, police recovered a six-page suicide note from her room. In the note, Stuti allegedly mentioned a man identified as Fazal Mohammed Khan, claiming that he had been mentally harassing her for a prolonged period.

Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s parents, the Antop Hill Police registered a case against Khan under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 108 related to abetment. Authorities have taken the accused into custody and launched a detailed investigation into the matter.

Preliminary findings suggest that the victim and the accused met through a dating app and had reportedly been in a relationship for about one year. Police are currently examining digital evidence and statements to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic incident.

Officials said further investigation is underway and additional legal action may follow depending on the findings.
