Residents and businesses in different parts of Mysuru should be prepared for an extended power outage on Sunday, June 14, as Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) has decided to shut down for eight hours for scheduled maintenance work.
CESC officials say the power interruption is necessary to facilitate first-quarter maintenance work on the electricity distribution network. The shutdown will take place in different residential areas, industrial areas and commercial shops in the city.
The electricity supply will stop from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on June 14. Residents should make sure they have all that they need during this time for all the work that depends on electrical appliances, internet connection, water pumps and other essential services.
The outage will mainly affect areas in the Hebbal, Metagalli and Hebbal Industrial Area electricity distribution centres. Thousands of households and many industries will be affected by the scheduled maintenance work.
The residential areas that are affected by the power shutdown are Vijayanagar, Subhash Nagar, Kumbarakoppal, Brindavan Layout, Lokanayaka Nagar, Jayadeva Nagar, BM Shreenagar, Vani Vilas Layout, Railway Layout and surrounding neighbourhoods. Residents in those areas may experience total electricity interruption during the maintenance period.
The industrial sector will also be affected. Many major manufacturing and industrial companies in and around Mysuru will be affected by the power outage. L&T Factory, JK Tyre, Wipro, Rane Madras, Meritor, and Mysore Steels will experience disruption in power supply during the scheduled maintenance window.
There will also be an impact on industries in the Koorgalli Industrial Area and the Belagola Industrial Area. Other important locations that will likely be affected by electricity interruption include the KRS Road corridor, Military Quarters, RBI surroundings, and nearby commercial and institutional businesses.
CESC has stated that maintenance work is essential for the reliability and efficiency of the power distribution system. Regular inspections, repairs and upgrades help prevent unexpected breakdowns and improve the quality of electricity supply to consumers across the region.
Authorities have urged residents and business owners to take precautionary measures in advance. People should charge their mobile phones, power banks, laptops and other electronic devices before the shutdown. Those dependent on electric water pumps should store sufficient water to avoid inconvenience during the outage.
Industrial units and commercial establishments need to plan their production schedules. An uninterrupted power supply for businesses could depend on generators or UPS systems to minimise disruption.
It’s something that people and businesses need to be thinking about as they prepare for the eight-hour outage. CESC officials have asked for public support during maintenance and promised that electricity service will be restored by the time operations are complete as soon as possible.
CESC will be keeping citizens updated through its official communications to inform us of any changes or new announcements for the maintenance schedule.
