The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) opened a 27.1-kilometre six-lane highway stretch connecting Deogarh in Rajasthan to the Gujarat border, which is also seen as another significant step toward the development of the Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor.
The new segment will enhance road links, cut down on travel time for freight vehicles and enhance logistics between northern India and the major port of Gujarat.
The latest highway segment is an important part of the ambitious Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor, which is a large-scale infrastructure project to connect Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat through a modern road network.
Once the corridor is complete, it will be a means of transportation of goods faster and more efficiently and will boost the industrial and economic growth in the region.
One of the biggest benefits of opening this stretch is better access to Kandla Port and Mundra Port, which are two of India’s busiest commercial ports.

Transporters will be able to move cargo fast; businesses enjoy more efficient logistics so that they can reduce delivery times and transportation costs. Smoother freight movement for manufacturers, exporters and logistics firms and more efficient supply chain management will be beneficial for them.
The corridor will also enhance the connection to key refinery hubs and make transportation of petroleum and industrial goods easier, NHAI says.
