Heavy rainfall hit Noida, Uttar Pradesh, helping to cool down in hot weather on Friday and caused waterlogging and traffic congestion in some parts of Noida. Clouds settled in the sky from early morning and heavy showers caused waterlogging and traffic jams in the city.
Sectors 18, 62, 137, Pari Chowk, Noida Expressway and parts of Greater Noida had moderate to heavy rainfall. The showers led to slow-moving traffic on major roads as commuters handled waterlogged stretches during peak office hours.
People welcomed a cool down in temperature after a long hot and humid run of days. But rainwater in some parts of the city and underpasses also created drainage problems following heavy water in some low-lying parts of the city. Cars were seen driving slowly in flooded patches and traffic was heavy in many places.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has been forecasting intermittent rainfall in Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh due to active monsoon activities. The present period will help improve the overall weather condition and increase the seasonal rainfall tally.
Passengers on the Noida Expressway and other local roads experienced delays because visibility was poor in the heavy rains. Traffic police advised drivers to slow down, keep a safe distance from other vehicles, and avoid waterlogged roads.
Rainfall also helped parks, green belts and agricultural areas near Noida recover. The fresh weather will help recharge groundwater and improve environmental conditions after recent weeks of erratic temperatures.

Local authorities monitored waterlogging hotspots and ensured smooth traffic. Teams were also deployed to vulnerable areas to clear blocked drains and manage rainwater. Residents were advised to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy showers and to keep up with weather alerts.
Experts said the active southwest monsoon is likely to continue to affect weather in the National Capital Region in the coming days. More rain with thunderstorms and strong winds may keep daytime temperatures below recent highs.
Some social media posts show water-soaked roads, overflowing drains and cars driving on waterlogged roads. Many residents posted pictures of the pleasant weather after the heat from the intense humidity that hit the city earlier this week.
Although the rain has helped to improve air quality and provided relief from the heat, authorities have advised people to be cautious in areas with flooded underpasses, construction sites, and low-lying roads.
As the monsoon continues to be active in Uttar Pradesh, Noida is forecast to see more showers over the weekend, which will make weather conditions cooler but there is still waterlogging and traffic disruption in Noida.
