Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met pre-school children and served them meals in state-level celebrations of “Angan Ka Utsav” and the 9th Rashtriya POSHAN Maah-2026 in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister also took a look at the cooked food being served to the children during his visit to the Anganwadi Centre. Meeting the young beneficiaries highlighted the programme's focus on nutrition, early childhood care and the well-being of children.
Angan Ka Utsav state-level celebrations are to educate and increase awareness on nutrition, health and early childhood development. The campaign also aims at raising a degree of participation from families and communities in programmes carried out by Anganwadi Centres.
Majhi’s visit to the Anganwadi Centre has served to highlight the roles of these centres in providing nutritional support and early childhood services.
The Chief Minister demonstrated the importance of the quality of meals provided under nutrition programmes by interacting directly with the children and checking the food served to them.
The 9th Rashtriya POSHAN Maah-2026 is being observed with the aim of improving nutritional outcomes in children, women and adolescent girls. Poshan Maah activities are being carried out with nutrition and diverse food supply, community involvement and quality of hot cooked meals at Anganwadi Centres.

The Odisha government has also taken steps to strengthen Anganwadi Centres. The Angan Ka Utsav campaign was launched by the state last month with nutrition, health awareness and early childhood development as its focus.
The government also announced an increase in the annual clothing allowance for Anganwadi workers and helpers from Rs 1,390 to Rs 1,500.
Anganwadi Centres are important at the grassroots level to connect children and families to nutrition and early childhood development services. The focus on freshly prepared and nutritious meals is also a part of the Poshan Maah campaign.
The Chief Minister’s participation in the programme therefore put the spotlight on the everyday role of Anganwadi Centres in supporting children’s nutritional needs.
The interaction with the pre-school children and inspection of their meals was a part of Odisha’s state-level observance of Angan Ka Utsav and Rashtriya POSHAN Maah-2026.
