Palghar district administration has suspended a civic official for failing to discharge duties under the SIR process in the 132-Nalasopara Assembly constituency. As Gopal Chaudhari is a Group Education Officer of the Vasai Panchayat Samiti, he is assigned to special intensive revision responsibilities. But he was not performing his assigned functions even though he was given important election-related tasks, the district administration stated.
The administration said that repeated non-performance and absence from duty were taken seriously, so a suspension was enacted and disciplinary action was taken. After a review of the matter, in accordance with the service rules, officials also decided to place Chaudhari under suspension according to service rules.
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is an important administrative exercise before elections to verify and update electoral rolls.
