Narendra Modi will visit Mysuru on Saturday, August 1, to attend some events in the city. In view of the Prime Minister’s visit, the Mysuru City Police have put tight traffic restrictions and diversions in place to facilitate smooth movement of VVIP convoys, maintain security, and minimise any disturbance during and after the Prime Minister’s visit.
The government has banned vehicles on 12 main roads in Mysuru for a short period of time for vehicle movement. The city will not allow vehicles on those main roads for safety and traffic management reasons. Police officials have urged drivers to use alternate roads to avoid congestion and drive on the designated routes.
According to a traffic advisory from the Mysuru City Police Commissioner’s Office, several important roads are closed for traffic during the Prime Minister's visit. They include KRB Road from DC Office Arch Junction to Ekalavya Circle, Bogadi Road from MUDA Junction to Dr Padma Circle, Hunsur Road from Paduvarahalli Junction to Metropole Circle, and JLB Road from Railway Station Junction to ROC Circle.
Other roads affected by the restrictions include Ramavilas Road from MUDA Junction to Banumaiah Junction, Krishnavilas Road from Rotary Junction to Jaganmohan Palace Junction, Dewans Road from Shringar Junction to College Road Junction, NS Road from P. Kalingarao Circle to Tatayya Circle, KRS Road from Dasappa Circle to Hasukaru Park Junction, Paramahamsa Road from G.C. Angadiah Circle to Malgudi Junction, Valmiki Road from Valmiki Road Junction to KRS Road, and Vivekananda Road from Akashvani Circle to Malgudi Junction.
Police have suggested alternative routes to reduce inconvenience for passengers travelling to railway and bus stations. Commuters from Hunsur Road, Vijayanagar, and Gokulam areas should go via Dyuthi Junction, Gokulam Road, Panchavati, Nirmala Convent Road, Hasukaru Park, ESI Hospital, Brindavan High Tension Road, Java Road, Highway Circle, RMC Circle, and Ayurvedic Circle.
Similarly, travellers from Agrahara, JP Nagar, and Vidyaranyapuram areas can reach the railway station and bus stand through ROC Circle, Siddappa Square, Agrahara Circle, MG Road Underbridge, MRC Circle, Zoo Road, Hardinge Circle, and BN Road. These routes have been set up to keep access to the major transportation hubs while road closures are in progress.
For passengers travelling from the railway station or bus stand towards Hunsur Road, police have recommended using JK Grounds Junction, RMC Circle, Highway Circle, Java Road, Brindavan High Tension Road, ESI Hospital, KRS Road, Hasukaru Park, Gokulam Main Road, Panchavati, and Dyuthi Junction.
Special traffic directions for KRS Road drivers have been issued. All vehicles on KRS Road will have to take a left turn near Brindavan Arch and travel via Ganapathi Temple Road, High Tension Road, Java Road, Highway Road, and SR Road. Meanwhile, drivers travelling to KRS Road from the city centre will be directed to use Ayurvedic Circle, RMC Circle, Highway Circle, Java Road, Brindavan High Tension Road, and ESI Hospital Junction.
The Prime Minister’s visit is expected to attract a lot of media attention, requiring heightened security measures and careful traffic management. Large numbers of police personnel and security agencies are in action in Mysuru to manage security and ensure smooth operation of events.
Mysuru City Police have advised the public to heed traffic police and be alert to the traffic authorities, follow diversion signs, and avoid driving through restricted areas during the Prime Minister’s visit. They suggested that residents check traffic conditions before going out on a long journey and allow extra travel time to avoid delays.
The authorities are confident that proper planning and public cooperation will ensure the safety and security of the Prime Minister’s visit to Mysuru while traffic diversions are in place.
