Children have not been left out by their parents and neighbours following the suspected occult ritual that happened outside a government school in the city of Ranebennur in Karnataka, in front of Government School No. 7, which is situated near the City Municipal Council sports ground. The incident was only discovered when a video of the objects being placed outside the school was aired on social media.
The dead bat, eggs, and lemons were displayed in front of the school, and the sight of the dead animal raised fear and confusion among those who saw it. In the video, the items were shown outside the school, prompting discussions on who had done it and why.
The incident has particularly worried parents and members of the local community because the alleged ritual was performed outside an educational institution. Residents have expressed concern that unknown people were able to carry out such an act near the school premises at night. They have called on authorities to beef up surveillance of schools and take any action to prevent such incidents in the future.
Fortunately, the incident occurred during the Dasara holiday period when students were not in class. As a result, there were no kids at the school when the alleged incident occurred. If the incident had happened during regular school hours, the dead animal and other materials could have made students, teachers, and parents more concerned.
After the incident was found, municipal sanitation workers visited the location on Sunday morning. They removed the materials from outside the school and swept the area.
The video was also widely shared on social media. Residents did say it was a supposed witchcraft or occult act, but it is not clear what motivated the dead bat, eggs, and lemons to be placed there. The authorities would need to look at the situation and find out who was responsible and why.
Residents want an investigation to take place and those responsible to be identified and dealt with by law. They also want surveillance cameras or other evidence to be used in the vicinity to find out who visited the place on Saturday night.
The incident has also raised new issues in the protection of schools during the school holiday period when campuses may have little to no activity. Residents say frequent monitoring of school settings will curb anti-social activity in schools and ensure children return to a safe environment once classes resume.
District officials will now look into the situation and take any further action. People who don’t want to spread unverified reports and panic due to the viral video should not spread it.
The Ranebennur incident has attracted the attention of local people, and the dead bat, eggs, and lemons outside a school are being discussed online. Of course, such things are associated with superstition and occult practices, but what was really the reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.
