Wife, Alleged Lover Arrested for Husband’s Murder; Police Say Victim Was Lured, Killed, and Buried in Rewa
Let's talk about Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, in which a murder case has shocked residents after police alleged that a woman and her alleged lover conspired to murder her husband and secretly bury his body in a pre-dug grave near a drain.
The name of the victim is Vipin Kumar Yadav, a resident of Mohar Tola in Bhagdevra village. Police have arrested the wife of the man, Aanchal Yadav, and Sunil Kushwaha, a private school teacher, in connection with the case. The investigation is going on for now.
According to the police, Sunil Kushwaha had introduced himself to Vipin's family as Aanchal's brother. Investigators suspect that he gradually gained the family’s trust by staying in their home and getting familiar with their daily routine before allegedly planning the crime.
On 26 March, Sunil persuaded Vipin to go with him on the pretext of visiting his in-laws' village, police said. During the trip, investigators said Sunil kept Vipin unaware by engaging him in casual conversation and even stopping to buy him snacks before reaching a secluded place near Govindgarh.
According to the police investigation, Sunil admitted during questioning that he told Vipin he was an obstacle to his relationship with Aanchal before pushing him into a well.
As investigators say, when Vipin attempted to climb out of the well, Sunil attacked him by throwing a large stone and continued pelting stones until he died.
Police say the murder was carefully planned. Sunil had allegedly dug a grave that was about 4 feet wide and six feet deep the day before. After the killing, he is accused of pulling Vipin's body out of the well by a rope and then burying it in the prepared pit in an attempt to cover the crime.
Sunil admitted, during interrogation, that he and Aanchal had been in a relationship before her marriage, and had continued meeting even after she married Vipin. The two are believed to have conspired to destroy Vipin to continue their relationship, detectives say.

Police also said Aanchal told investigators she believed her husband did not match her aspirations or social status. The statements are part of the investigation and have yet to be tested in court.
Vipin's family also expressed shock at the allegations. They said they did not know about any alleged relationship between Aanchal and Sunil. Family members also said that if there were marital differences, legal separation would have been the appropriate course rather than resorting to violence.
Police have recovered evidence and are still processing forensic and documentary evidence. All aspects of the case are being investigated to establish the sequence of events and the role of the accused.
Both defendants are in police custody, and further legal process is in progress. The allegations are based on the investigation so far, and the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, authorities said.
The incident has led to a lot of concern in the region due to the alleged planning behind the crime. Police have assured that a full investigation will be carried out and that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected.
