Narendra Modi has set a new Instagram record by his reel on the government’s proposed measures against examination paper leaks having reached 303 million views within 24 hours.
The number surpassed the previous record of 300 million views, and PM Modi’s video was the most viewed Instagram Reel in one day, according to the figures cited in the report.
The reel was posted on Thursday night and it covered how the government’s proposed roadmap to tackle paper leaks and strengthen the examination system in the wake of nationwide protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 examination.
The video generated huge engagement, with 16 million likes and around 1.5 million comments. PM Modi’s Instagram account also got nearly one million new followers overnight.
The previous record was held by IShowSpeed for a reel of his meeting with BTS during the FIFA World Cup. PM Modi's latest accomplishment has thus added a big social media dimension to the ongoing political debate over examination reforms and alleged paper leaks.
The record comes at a time of high criticism on competitive exams and for the Centre’s alleged lapses of management. Student protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) are still going on with protesters demanding accountability and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
In his first video, PM Modi said the government was preparing stricter measures to deal with paper leaks. He said steps are being made to create fast-track courts and put a heavier punishment for examination fraud suspects who are found to have been responsible for examination fraud and to tighten the law for those who commit fraud.
The video, the Prime Minister wrote, “More strict actions against paper leaks to come in tomorrow’s Cabinet!”
Modi said paper leaks were not an ordinary matter and that the issue had caused great distress to lakhs of students and their parents. He said many major steps have already been taken since the incidents were reported, adding that alleged offenders had been arrested.
The Prime Minister also said the government’s priority was to ensure students did not lose an entire academic year because of examination disruptions. Modi said the government worked to conduct examinations for nearly 22 lakh students within a short period, and results announced soon after.
PM Modi then posted a second Instagram video on Friday night, thanking young people and other viewers for their response and suggestions.
“Thank you, friends. I had the opportunity to meet you late last night. I’m really happy you like my video and made some suggestions. Thanks to everyone,” he said.
The Prime Minister said he hoped the support and interaction would continue and the connection between him and the public would be “even stronger and more active.”
The social media record comes as the Opposition continues to demand the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and a detailed discussion on the NEET paper leak controversy in Parliament.
As the government promises tougher action and protesters press for accountability, the question of examination integrity is still at the heart of an ever-growing political and student movement.
