With the winter chill waning, Agra is preparing for its annual peak with Taj Mahotsav 2026. The festival this year is rooted firmly in a central theme of Dharohar (Heritage), which pulls together more than 400 artisans from across India to display traditions in wood carving, marble inlay and textile arts, all of which feature beautifully featured local designs.

Pro-Tips for Visitors

UPI is used a lot within the market, but most local artisans at smaller stalls prefer to carry cash in order to get something done faster.

  • Schedule: Head to the small handicraft stalls in the morning (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Then come tomorrow night after that and enjoy some grand musical performances!
  • Stay Safe: CCTV cameras monitor the venue, medical camps and police aid stations have been set up to keep guests safe.
